THE GIST OF IT:

As Stanford Engineering enters their next century, they will forge ahead as they always have: fearlessly, together, moving the world forward because they were engineered to. In 2025, their Centennial Year, the team at Stanford Engineering wanted to reinvigorate their community of students, faculty/staff, and alumni by creating a brand that feels worthy of the moment.

Engineering isn’t defined by the finished result, but by the ten, twelve, or thirty versions that lead to it—the sketches, the missteps, and the prototypes. “The Engineered S,” the centerpiece of the Centennial brand, symbolizes the continual refinement of thought and innovation that has driven Stanford engineers for the past century.

From historic breakthroughs to projects still in their earliest phases, highlighting the inventions developed at Stanford Engineering is central to honoring its legacy. Whether it’s the original Google Storage Server or cutting-edge Exoskeleton Emulators, each innovation contributes to the narrative.

To keep the brand distinctly Stanford, we anchored it in the Stanford Cardinal. Together with Digital Red, it delivers a modern, recognizable visual for the Stanford Engineering community.
