NYU Online's leaders came to us with a challenge: Using the existing NYU design assets, how can we create a unique vision for the online presence?
NYU utilizes a pattern that they call their "city grid." But for NYU Online, the location of all these students can't be represented by just one static intersection. Using the city grid as a starting point, we developed an icon called "the catalyst," a dynamic, ever-changing intersection that has become the hero element for the brand.
The catalyst, paired with NYU's new custom font, their iconic violet color palette, and fresh addition of citron, all combine to create visuals that feel connected to NYU the institution, while bringing it into the digital space.
